ROYAL PORTHCAWL GOLF CLUB: Arguably the finest course in Wales. While the course does not possess the towering dunes of some links course, this characteristic makes for a more demanding layout by allowing the weather to be a major factor. It does not hurt the view either, as the sea is visible from every hole. The club has hosted many prestigious tournaments including The Amateur Championship on six occasions, the Walker Cup in 1995, the Curtis Cup in 1964, the British Masters in 1961, and European Tour event, the Welsh Golf Classic in the early 1980s. Royal Porthcawl GC will host the 2016 Amateur Championship.
